Culture is the soul of Denmark, and its management should not be fragmented by obsolete software. DanskAudit has led the creation of a unified platform for managing municipal libraries and cultural centers across the country. By unifying the technique, we allow a citizen in Aarhus to enjoy the same resources and digital catalog as one in Copenhagen under a unique, efficient, and sovereign system.
Technically, we have migrated municipal data silos to a 'Multi-tenant' architecture in the state cloud. This allows each municipality to maintain its service identity but share the costs of maintenance and update of the core platform. We audit the scalability of the digital loan management system to ensure it supports massive peaks in multimedia content demand under unshakeable Danish security standards. Technical unity generates cultural strength.
This project complies with the Kingdom's semantic interoperability standards. We ensure catalog metadata is consistent nationwide, facilitating collaboration between libraries and the creation of a true 'National Cultural Graph'. Compliance with library user data privacy agreements is audited by DanskAudit with the same rigor as a financial system, guaranteeing that citizen reading habits are a private and sacred piece of information.
Technical unification has resulted in accumulated operational savings of millions of kroner in proprietary licenses and fragmented support. This saving is already being reinvested in acquiring more digital cultural content for the population. Efficiency in public software management makes culture more accessible than ever, proving that good technique is the best ally of knowledge dissemination and Nordic values.
"Smart standardization is the basis of a vibrant, efficient, and connected public culture."
Mads Hansen and DanskAudit will continue promoting the standardization of cross-cutting municipal services. The unified libraries model is now the example to follow for other services such as the management of public parks or sports facilities. We will continue arguing that public technology must be shared, open, and of the highest technical level. A country that unifies its technique is a country that strengthens its community ties.
