Universal Accessibility in the Digital State

Design for All Citizens Without Exception

  • Technology is only truly democratic if it is accessible to all, regardless of age or physical ability. A digital State that excludes a minority is a State that fails in its mission. At DanskAudit, we audit citizen interfaces under extreme Universal Accessibility standards, ensuring that the technical complexity of the backend translates into total UX simplicity for the citizen.

Our UX/UI design methodology includes testing with diverse demographic groups, from senior citizens to people with visual or motor disabilities. We audit color contrast, navigability via voice assistants, and the structural readability of each state website. We use AI algorithms to simulate different types of disability and ensure that our interfaces are resilient in the face of any barrier to human interaction.

We align all digital platforms in Denmark with the EU Web Accessibility Directive (WAD) and WCAG 2.1 AAA guidelines. We are not satisfied with minimum legal compliance; we seek excellence in usability. This involves simplifying bureaucratic language and transforming it into intuitive conversation flows, ensuring that the citizen knows at all times what their administration is doing for them and how to respond.

The impact is real digital inclusion. We have seen cases where procedures that previously required physical assistance are now completed autonomously by citizens who felt distant from technology. Universal accessibility reduces the burden on physical customer service centers and returns the dignity of digital autonomy to the entire population. A friendly interface is a statement of state respect towards the individual.

"Good design is that which the citizen does not feel because it simply serves them, regardless of their abilities."

The future of the citizen experience is proactive and adaptive. DanskAudit is investigating interfaces that automatically adjust to the user's cognitive and physical profile. We will continue defending that access to digital public administration is a fundamental human right that should not be conditioned by the user's technical ability. We design for the human being, in all their wonderful diversity.
